Bath Salt FAQ::

Find answers to some of the most common bath salts related questions here

Q. Where can I find all the recipes & resources for learning how to make bath salts?

A. I know I came up against this problem when I first started making my own bath salts. At first I was encouraged by various "free" recipes for bath salts - until I started using them

I found that every site offered the same small handful of worn-out recipes. There was literally no variety. Every recipe was the same base with maybe one ingredient switched around, and the few recipes that contained fragrance blends were just awful!

If you are serious about making bath salts, I would highly recommend you read my eBook "The Comprehensive Guide to Hand-crafted Bath Salts". It contains all the information you'll need to get started making bath salts immediately. Click Here to learn more about it.

Q. My salts have become clumpy and rock hard. What can I do about this?

A. That condition is usually due to excessive moisture. The first time I made this mistake it took me quite a while to solve this problem. You'll need to soften the salts and once they return to their normal state, dry them out completely. I discuss how to do this in my eBook - click here for more details.

Q. Why does the scent in my salts fade?

A. In my eBook I discuss the special salt I personally use to ensure even distribution of the scent throughout the recipe. However, in some conditions the scent will still fade, and I would recommend that you try storing your salts in glass containers instead of paper or plastic ones. They'll last much longer that way.

Q. I've found that some colored salts will form a slight ring around the tub after a bath. What do I do about this?

A. Occasionally this happens when certain types of colorants are used - however, I've found that they always come off easily with soap and water.

Q. Which salts are best for soothing muscle aches?

A. Epsom salts are by far the best choice for relieving sore muscles. The magnesium sulfate helps combat the lactic acid in the muscles thereby relaxing and relieving stiffness and soreness. For more epsom salt uses click here.

Q. Where can I buy the ingredients required for bath salts?

A. While you can get ingredients both online and offline, I would suggest you seriously consider using an online supplier for your ingredients.

While you may be able to find the basic salts in a bulk bin in your grocery store, you would probably have a harder time finding the necessary butters, fragrances and oils needed for your bath salts.

Currently I recommend two suppliers online:

  1. From Nature With Love - an online supplier with over 1700+ quality ingredients. From Nature With Love's selection and customer service are both excellent reasons for using them as your supplier. Plus, when you purchase all your ingredients in one location, you save on shipping.
  2. San Francisco Bath Salt Co. - an online supplier I use mostly for the various types of salt. They have a flat shipping rate - no matter how much salt you buy, which makes an absolute must if you are ordering salt in any large quantities.

"I woke up early this morning to continue reading the eBook and I have to thank you again for such comprehensive reading material. You are an excellent teacher.

While ordering on-line I had a question concerning the FDC colorants and referred to the book. The color palette was at my fingertips and info on the exact colors to order. It saved me time and money.

Haven't made a recipe yet but am looking forward to getting my shipment next week and beginning again. I gave up because of clumping and bad results from recipes on the net that ended up in a mess and totally blue skin!"

- Vicki, California

"The book was full of information that I never thought of when I made bath salts years ago. I've been making soap for several years now and am known in my community as the 'soap lady'. At the last craft show someone asked if I could make bath salts for the next show.

I too had bad experiences with them getting rock hard or going rancid and didn't feel comfortable about selling them. I'm going to try again and see if they sell. Thanks so much for compiling all this information."

- Mary, Indiana

"Just wanted to let you know that I have gone through most of the material provided in the ebook. Fantastic information! You have done a wonderful job. The ebook is easy to get around in and so detailed too! My hat is off to you.

And I can't tell you how excited I am about getting started. I am in the process of creating my list of products I need to purchase and then it's off to the suppliers page, for the best price!

I found the bonuses you sent a "must". Thank you for preparing such outstanding information. The tips page is something all your customers should read, I think. It should take all the guess work out of the process and make the creating of bath salts a BLAST."

- Sandy, Oklahoma

The information, of course, was superb. I especially liked the moisturizing articles. You've done a grand job, really."

I love your book and learning all the details about bath salts. It has opened a whole new world for me.

I have only used Sea Salt in my products. Now I am going to experiment with these other salts especially the Bali and Organic Breton for their healing effects.

Your book is easy to read, very informative and clear on how to make different bath salts.
